Q&A With Christopher
What's the emerging trend in your sector specialism and how are you responding to this?
When I first entered the industry, the landscape was divided into a few core sectors: office, industrial, and retail, with residential standing apart as its own distinct category. Fast forward to today, and the commercial property world has evolved into a far more diverse ecosystem. We now see a broader range of sectors emerging—managed offices, data centres, life sciences, leisure, and logistics are just a few of them.
But perhaps the most dramatic transformation has occurred in what was once simply called "residential." Now more commonly referred to as the "living sector," it encompasses a wide array of asset types including Build-to-Rent (BTR), student accommodation, senior living, and more.
Where there was once a clear divide between commercial and residential investors, today’s market sees much more of an overlap. Investors are increasingly looking across the full spectrum of asset classes, and professionals with cross-sector experience are better positioned to seize new opportunities. As the industry continues to evolve, adaptability and a broad skill set are becoming key differentiators.
How do you add value to your customers?
Working closely with organisations I am able to pass on my experience gained over 20 years, not just on hiring, but remuneration advice and team structuring or outplacement services when businesses are downsizing.
Is there a particular project that you have been involved in that you're proud of?
We’ve been working closely with a property company as they restructured the way they manage their portfolio. After many years of outsourcing, they made the decision to bring management in-house. We supported this transition from the outset, starting with the appointment of a Head of Department. Once they were in place, we continued to work alongside them to build out a UK-wide team across all levels.
Since then, the business has undergone further change, including a merger with another organisation. As they continue to grow and adapt, we’ve remained involved—helping to shape and strengthen the team to support their evolving needs.
