On behalf of our client, MRG Global is undertaking a confidential search for a number of exceptional candidates to fill the position of Procurement Director. Our client will visit London to conduct in-person interviews, so this is your chance to get face to face with the hiring team from one of the projects everyone is talking about.

Overview:
Our client is an ambitious, PIF-backed project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Procurement Director will play a crucial role in overseeing and leading the procurement process for various projects within our client’s delivery function. The individuals appointed to these positions will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of predominantly services, but also including goods and indirect procurement, while adhering to our client’s procurement policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

As the Procurement Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead Procurement Strategies: Craft and implement procurement strategies that align with our client’s overarching goals and project timelines.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Identify, evaluate, and nurture relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts to secure optimal terms and conditions.
  • Bid Leadership: Oversee the entire bidding process, from tender document preparation to supplier selection, ensuring transparency and fairness.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, maintaining the highest levels of integrity.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide strategic guidance and support.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage the procurement budget meticulously, tracking expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Process Optimization: Implement best practices in procurement processes and systems, driving efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and insights on procurement performance and key metrics, enabling informed decision-making by senior management.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Procurement Director role possesses the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, demonstrating a track record of success in complex and high value procurement projects.
  • CIPS, CPSM or CSCP preferred.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills coupled with the ability to cultivate lasting relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of procurement principles, practices, and regulations, ensuring compliance at every stage.
  • Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with procurement software and systems, preferably SAP or Oracle, to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Leadership Abilities: Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset.
