Job Title: Project Management Director – Oceanic Showcase

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Project Management Director (PMD) to lead the development of a world-class Oceanic showcase for our Client, a visionary, PIF-backed developer. The PMD will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, from initial planning and design to construction and commissioning. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in creating an immersive and educational environment that showcases marine life and promotes conservation.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Strategy: Develop a comprehensive project plan and strategy for the development, including defining project scope, objectives, timeline, and budget.
  2. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, government agencies, community groups, and regulatory bodies. Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communications and negotiations.
  3. Team Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including architects, engineers, exhibit designers, marine biologists, contractors, and consultants.
  4. Budget and Financial Management: Develop and manage the project budget, monitoring expenses and cash flow to ensure financial sustainability and accountability. Identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate financial risks.
  5. Schedule and Timeline Management: Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule, identifying critical milestones and dependencies. Monitor progress against the schedule and implement adjustments as necessary to ensure timely completion.
  6. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the project and develop strategies to mitigate them. Proactively address issues as they arise to minimize impact on project timelines and objectives.
  7. Quality Assurance and Control: Implement quality assurance measures to ensure that the oceanarium meets design specifications and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to identify and address any deficiencies or deviations from requirements.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and permits governing the development and operation of the oceanarium. Work closely with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
  9. Environmental Sustainability: Incorporate principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship into the design and operation of the oceanarium. Minimize the facility's ecological footprint and promote conservation awareness among visitors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, business administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of at least 15 years in project management, with experience in large-scale entertainment or resort projects being highly desirable, with a track record of projects valued over £100m.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects from conception to completion, preferably in large scale aquarium projects, aquatic research institutes or oceanariums.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian regulatory processes and local construction practices is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional, multi-cultural teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to attractions development, construction, and environmental sustainability.
  • Passion for marine conservation and education, with a commitment to creating meaningful and impactful visitor experiences.
