Principal Environmental Sustainability Design (ESD) Engineer

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Key Tasks:

  • Oversee the development, planning, and implementation of Sustainability elements in EPCM / EPCC project;
  • Coordinate, support and monitor in Design Assessment (DA) and Certifications & Verification (CVA) Stage submission requirements;
  • Experience and background in sustainable building design, construction and/or upgrade;
  • Responsible for managing external consultant in sustainable building certification process for Non-Residential Existing and New Buildings such as Green Building Index (GBI), GreenRE and/or LEED;
  • Responsible for end-to-end process for sustainability and low carbon program delivery across all EPCM / EPCC projects such as photo-voltaic (PV) solar panels installation, electric vehicle chargers’ installation, Building Monitoring System (BMS), Energy Management System (EMS) and green building certifications (GBI/GreenRE);
  • Well versed with building sustainability assessment criteria such as energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, sustainable site planning and management, materials and resources, water efficiency and innovation;
  • Strong ability to coordinate, manage and work with external parties and stakeholders providing specialist input in planning and execution during the certification process & project delivery;
  • Assist developing design and assessment toolkit to achieve Green Building certification;
  • Ability to undertake assessment on existing and/or new sites to and provide professional advice on areas where Green Building certification can be obtained;
  • Always up to-date with the low carbon emission initiatives and design requirement including changing regulatory requirements;
  • Championing innovation programs to meet the client’s energy emission target and digitalization goals;
  • Experience in artificial intelligent, machine learning and data analysis to process large data quantity into clear and concise outputs that can be translated into tangible actions in meeting the client’s carbon emission reduction goals and energy efficiency target;
  • Experienced and responsible in fast-tracked design process and programs roll-out;
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with vendors, partners, support staff and/or the relevant government authorities to achieve project deliverables and for the successful accomplishment of the business goals;
  • Manage Services Rollout/Deployment – Using professional project management tools and processes as well as defined services rollout/deployment processes;
  • Comply with project management quality standards for scope, schedule, resource, communication, risk and issue and quality management;
  • Ability to analyze energy and water efficiencies based on the data harvesting initiatives and provide assessment sustainable programs implemented on existing and/or new sites;
  • Familiar with the specification, regulation, drawings of internal and external renovation and design;
  • Engage and coordinate service provider groups and SMEs to plan, coordinate and implementations;
  • Coordinates team resources, resolves conflicts, manages performance, and ensures propositions and plans successfully reflect contract parameters, company’s policy, and capability;
  • Ensure SLAs are achieved, and client expectations are met (or exceeded);
  • To build services relationships with clients and consultants;
  • Attend client service review meetings; areas covered will include performance reports, customer service improvements, quality, and processes;
  • Capable of working in an international environment with virtual teams; and
  • Keep abreast of current and upcoming developments and market trends regarding sustainability, climate, decarbonization, corporate disclosure, reporting frameworks, and social impact.

  • Minimum Requirements       
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering;
  • Proven experience of managing Green Building certifications across GBI, LEED & GreenRE;
  • Must be a GBI Facilitator and/or LEED Associate;
  • At least 10 years of experience in Green Building Projects, ESG Initiatives & Sustainability;
  • Conversant in environmental sustainability framework and best practices dealing with the built environment;
  • Possess negotiation, analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills;
  • Able to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, and senior management;
  • Must be independent, resourceful, and good team player;
  • Strong leading and managing and motivating skills to with the knowledge to provide efficient and professional support;
  • Being good in negotiating, influencing, coordinating and decision making in the area of responsibility;
  • Refinement of reporting processes, especially data collection, verification, and assurance;
  • Experience in team leadership and project management;
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills to interface and influence all levels of stakeholders (internal/external); and
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, such as MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Teams, and MS Word.
