Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced MEP Costing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in industrial building construction projects. The MEP Costing Engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that cost estimates align with project specifications and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for MEP systems based on project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents.
Material and Labor Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of materials, equipment, and labor requirements for MEP installations, considering factors such as quantity, quality, and market prices.
Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for MEP components and services. Evaluate bids and proposals to ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with project requirements.
Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize cost without compromising quality or functionality of MEP systems.
Cost Tracking and Reporting: Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase, tracking expenses related to MEP installations and providing regular reports to project stakeholders.
Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to mitigate risks of cost overruns and ensure adherence to project budgets.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to address cost-related issues and contribute to project success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience (10 years) in MEP costing for industrial building construction projects.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction materials, and building codes/regulations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
