Get to know… Izabela Kawczynski

What do you do at MRG?
Managing Partner for Poland, expanding MRG’s international offices to include Poland, Germany and the CEE region.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
That my work has impacted people and organizations in a positive way.  Whether that is helping someone land their dream job, or by helping an organization achieve their business goals by placing the right candidates,  helping others gives my work meaning.  It’s not about my personal achievement, hitting KPIs, or climbing the career ladder. It’s about being of service, helping people and organizations get from where they are to where they want to be.

How did you get into recruitment, and why?
Recruitment kept choosing me 😊.

I’ve always been good at asking questions,  connecting people, so it’s natural that I made a career out of it. Also I’ve always been curious about people and their stories, and I love that recruitment allows you to be a part of someone’s story, someone’s new chapter. Meeting new people, becoming a part of their stories!

What energises you about working in this sector?
Being part of projects that change the landscape and even the economy of a country is just amazing, especially in Poland. I first came to Warsaw in 1987, then again in early 2000. It is inspiring that to see Warsaw and other cities in Poland grow into booming, vibrant modern cities, thanks to the real estate developments.  Recruiting for these projects I feel like I’m contributing to this transformation!

What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
It’s become much more virtual and therefor more international.  This creates a much larger, more dynamic and interesting candidate pool. I love it!

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I’ve recently embraced the minimalist lifestyle after reading Fumio Sasaki’s book, “Goodbye, Things”. I’ve gotten rid of everything that I don’t need.  It is very freeing!

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
JFDI (Just…ehem…do it)

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Force of nature.

I’ve been called that. Check my LinkedIn recommendations.

And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
Tina Fey.
