Senior Piping Engineer – Industrial and O&G projects

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Piping Design Engineer to join our team in either industrial building construction or oil & gas projects. As a Senior Piping Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of piping systems, ensuring they meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Piping System Design: Lead the design and layout of piping systems for industrial building construction or oil & gas projects, considering factors such as process requirements, material compatibility, stress analysis, and safety standards.
2. Technical Expertise: Utilize your expertise in piping design principles, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API) to develop efficient and cost-effective piping solutions.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, process engineers, project managers, and clients to integrate piping systems into overall project designs.
4. 3D Modeling and CAD: Proficiently use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and construction documents.
5. Material Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate piping materials based on project requirements, considering factors such as fluid properties, temperature, pressure, and environmental conditions.
6. Project Management: Coordinate piping design activities, manage project schedules, and ensure timely delivery of design deliverables within budget constraints.
7. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of piping designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
8. Risk Assessment: Identify potential design risks and propose mitigation strategies to minimize the likelihood of operational issues or safety hazards.
9. Support During Construction: Provide technical support to construction teams during the installation, testing, and commissioning phases of piping systems, addressing any design-related challenges that may arise.
10. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in piping technology, and emerging best practices to continually enhance design methodologies and workflows.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• Proven experience (typically 10 + years) in piping design for industrial building construction or oil & gas projects.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform stress analysis and hydraulic calculations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources efficiently.
