Package: circa £75,000 plus benefits

The Diocese of Rochester is seeking to make the key appointment of Head of Property.

We are the Church of England in the areas of Medway, north and west Kent and the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley; a historic diocese in existence since 604AD. Serving a diverse and vibrant community of faith, we share the vision that we are Called Together to change, serve and grow the church in this place. Serving a population of over 1.3 million people, the Diocese includes 215 parishes, 89 schools, and two bishops: The Bishop of Rochester and the Bishop of Tonbridge.

With a sustainable portfolio of over 200 properties including clergy housing, investment property, land and redundant churches, the Head of Property is responsible for the strategic development of the portfolio to support the growth agenda of the Diocese and supporting parishes in the management and development of their own properties.

The Head of Property will work with the Diocesan Surveyor to ensure continued effective delivery of the repairs, compliance and maintenance programme, whilst also assessing the ongoing review of the residential portfolio to ensure properties remain fit for purpose and meet the needs of clergy. With strategic responsibility for the wider land and property portfolio, we are seeking an individual with experience of delivering strategic asset management in aligned residential, commercial and/or land sectors, along with experience of overseeing acquisitions, property management, disposals and development.

Reporting to the Diocesan Secretary, and as part of the Operations Management Team, the Head of Property will play a key and senior role, responsible for an established and committed team. As a natural leader, the appointed will mentor, empower and encourage the team to operate at their very best.

This position offers the opportunity to take on a senior leadership role in the charity sector, offering flexible working and a lean operating structure in an organisation that has a direct impact on clergy, worshippers and the local community.
