What do you do at MRG?
I am a Regional Director for the Asia market. My primary focus will be on expanding, growing and scaling our business domestically in Malaysia and across the region. Additionally, I am responsible for product/services development and digital transformation.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
My move from Europe to Asia, where I have successfully built and scaled numerous highly capable recruitment teams/ organisations.

How did you get into recruitment and why?
I wanted to move out of the Shared Services space and was offered an opportunity as a Trainee IT Recruiter when I was living in Prague. I’ve always been interested in technology and recruitment was a good fit for my extrovert personality and mindset.

What energises you about working in this sector?
Meeting new people and having the opportunity to help others further their career, as well as getting to continually stay abreast of industry trends and innovations.

What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
Technology and automation have revolutionised recruitment. The introduction of enterprise ATS and CRMs has streamlined processes and increased candidate/client experience massively, which is very important to me.

What do you think the biggest misconception people have about you is?
That I have a short temper, which couldn’t be further from the truth!

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a DJ and House Music Producer in my spare time, I’m also a classically trained Chef.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Every day’s a school day. Try to learn at least one thing per day no matter how small it maybe.

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Data-Driven, Empathetic and Fair.

And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
Joe Gilgun
