Get to know… Jane Schofield

What do you do at MRG?
I am an Associate Director in MRG third and public sector estates team. I support in the delivery of senior search campaigns in local and central government, higher education and the NHS.

I also lead our specialist charity division – overseeing senior estates, facilities and real estate appointments throughout the UK. I am passionate about supporting our third sector clients to attract and retain the very best talent.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
Being able to have a flexible and successful career in recruitment whilst bringing up my four children and maintaining a good work life balance. I have 25 years’ experience from working in corporate environments to setting up my own recruitment consultancy which allowed me to fit my work in around my family life.  I have a diverse career background outside of recruitment too having worked in healthcare, music and the arts, third sector and furniture design.

How did you get into recruitment, and why?
I fell into recruitment after finishing my business degree in Manchester. I was looking for a job that provided variety and wanted to work in a fast-paced environment whilst enjoying the sector I recruit in. I love buildings and design and was keen to explore this sector.

What energises you about working in this sector?
Being able to make a difference – there’s nothing better than the sense of achievement of placing the right person with the right company.

What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
Technology and specifically social media, Linkedin is used a lot for recruitment professionals When I first started we were faxing CV’s and emails weren’t even a thing!

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I had a brief career in musicals, touring the North of England.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Enjoy what you do, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life!

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Committed, creative and caring.

Cameron Diaz of course!
