What is your role at MRG?
I work as a Business Operations Specialist at MRG, where I support internal operations by ensuring that systems, workflows, and team processes run smoothly. My day-to-day includes cross-functional collaboration, streamlining internal documentation, improving reporting accuracy, and enhancing operational efficiency through data analysis and structured planning.
What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
One of my proudest achievements is leading impactful moderation projects at my previous company, including developing the High Vulgarity Words file and the Tamil Live Comment Case Collections. These initiatives trained moderation systems to detect nuanced and culturally specific content, particularly across South Asian regions. This project was designed to gatekeep and detect cyberbullying cases occurring in Malaysia, ensuring that region-specific slang and context were accurately flagged and addressed. It showed me the power of combining data, local expertise, and policy knowledge to create safer digital spaces and make meaningful improvements to platform integrity.
How did you get into recruitment, and why?
I didn’t start in recruitment directly, I began my career in content operations and moderation. Over time, I developed a keen interest in how operational systems support people and performance. That naturally led me into a business operations role, where recruitment is a key area of support. I enjoy helping create smoother hiring workflows and supporting the people who drive our teams forward.
What energises you about working in this sector?
What energises me most is the combination of people and process. Recruitment isn’t just about finding the right candidate; it’s about designing systems that bring in talent efficiently, fairly, and sustainably. I enjoy using my operational mindset to support those goals, especially when I get to solve complex problems or improve the candidate and hiring experience.
What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
The rise of AI and automation in hiring processes is one of the most significant shifts I’ve seen. From resume screening tools to structured interviews and data-informed decisions, recruitment has become much more systematic. But the human element still matters, and striking that balance is key.
What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I’ve worked on some pretty sensitive content moderation cases involving regional slang, sexual harassment detection, and cultural nuance. It taught me empathy, attention to detail, and the importance of being open-minded skills that I bring into every role I take on.
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
“Don’t wait until you’re ready; start before you’re ready, and grow into the role.” This advice helped me move beyond fear and take bold steps in my career, even when I wasn’t 100% confident yet.
What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
- Reliable
- Detail-oriented
- Supportive
And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
A mix of Priyanka Chopra’s bold energy and Emily Blunt’s quiet strength. Priyanka captures the fearless, adaptable side of me, always ready to try new things and take risks—while Emily Blunt reflects my calm, detail-focused mindset and the way I like to lead from behind the scenes.
