About Dan
I’m the Business Sector Director for the Bids team at Bid Recruitment, specialising in placing Bid and Work Winning professionals across professional services. I work with clients in real estate, construction, and engineering consultancies, as well as in the legal and financial services sectors.
After studying Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at Sussex University, I spent seven years with Carphone Warehouse before moving into recruitment in 2010. I began my recruitment career with On-Target, a specialist in sales and business development roles.
In 2017, I joined Badenoch & Clark to continue my journey in bids, tenders, and sales recruitment. I now lead MRG’s Bid Recruitment team, bringing deep sector expertise and a consultative approach to every appointment.
Q&A With Dan
How has your career at MRG progressed?
When I started with The Management Recruitment Group, there were four in the Bid team specialising in working across the built environment. We launched bid recruitment brand in April 2019 and have since expanded across sectors and geography. We have now placed in all industries across Construction, Technology, Healthcare, Professional services, Charities, Education and Research.
How do you add value to your customers?
Having working in Bids, Business Development and Sales recruitment for over 15 years I have developed the skills to allow me to consult my clients on the structures of their team, the skills they might need for a particular role or brief and some of the options they might not have considered around a difficult brief to secure the best talent. Added to my experience allows me to operate an extremely fast rate uncovering talent others wouldn't find and securing their interest.
Is there a particular project that you have been involved in that you're proud of?
Two projects stand out to me in my time with MRG/Bid Recruitment so far. One was with Emcor and a major retained campaign where I delivered their Director of Bids on a tight deadline, followed by seven other key roles across the Bids and Business Development team. The most recent two successive retained campaigns for UPP, where I delivered a thorough search again against tight deadlines for a challenging brief, placing their Senior Bid Director and Bid Director in early 2025.
