Get to know… Pramegh Sangle

What do you do at MRG?
I am the Managing Director for the Emerging Markets in India. My key focus is expanding and growing our global business in the Emerging Markets. Additionally, I will join the wider MRG leadership team.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
I had successfully launched a Property & Construction recruitment practice and built a profitable business from the ground up at the Page Group, but the thing I am most proud of is the wonderful relationships I formed with the clients and candidates along the way.

How did you get into recruitment, and why?
I was fortunate enough to get a call from the Page Group about a prospective position with them to launch a new business. Not being from the recruitment industry, I was unsure about how I could add value, but the top management was gracious enough to explain how the industry operates and how I can strongly leverage my experience and skill sets. Subsequently, I got very excited by the idea of taking up the challenge of building something from scratch as well as helping others in their career journey, and it was undoubtedly the best professional decision I have ever made.

What energises you about working in this sector?
It provides me with countless opportunities to interact with and learn from some of the brightest people who come from diversified backgrounds, while also playing a small role as a catalyst in their professional development.

What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
The entire recruitment process has been significantly enhanced through the active usage of online platforms, virtual communication tools, mobile technology, AI, chatbots, etc.

Also, there used to be a time when competitive remuneration and the brand name were enough to entice top talent. Although these are still significant factors, post-pandemic, many professionals expect more from their next job.

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I am a good chess player.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
I am fortunate enough to have received a lot of great advice over the years, but two of the best pieces of advice were:

“The real purpose of our wealth is not to fuel our egos, but to feed the hungry and to help people who are in need.”

“Don’t be concerned with negative opinions of toxic people; just appreciate the people you respect and who brings positive influence in your life.”

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Extrovert, Humorous and Helpful

And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
I’m not certain of the answer, but instead I’d like to travel back in time and be given the opportunity to play a small part in any one of my favourite movies (The Shawshank Redemption, Pursuit of Happiness, Hachi: A Dog’s Tale or the Harry Potter series).
