About Joe
Before joining MRG in 2025, I spent 12 years with a FTSE 250 global recruitment firm. The opportunity to join MRG was simply too good to pass up. The team here has built an exceptional track record over the past 15+ years in leadership appointments across the public sector, and I’m excited to contribute to that continued success.
Working closely with Michael and Ben, I focus on delivering retained campaigns for senior FM appointments within high-profile public sector organisations. I value long-term relationships and always welcome conversations with FM leaders, whether about careers, recruitment plans, or market insights.
Outside of work, I’m a proud dad to a son born in late 2023, and a self-confessed podcast addict, so I’m always happy to share recommendations.
Q&A With Joe
How has your career at MRG progressed?
This might be a slightly different answer to the intended question, but part of the reason I joined MRG was to work with industry leaders like Michael Hewlett and Ben Duffill, who have helped me elevate my recruitment career and transition it into executive search. It’s invaluable for me to be working with a team that has the track record it does and to now be part of the team's growth.
What's the emerging trend in your sector specialism and how are you responding to this?
There has been a seismic change to how estates and facilities teams function post the 2020 pandemic. The rise of hybrid working has not only challenged leaders in how they manage their own teams but also how they manage their actual physical estate and all of the associated FM services that come with that. We have seen more and more transformations of physical estates to adapt to a new way of these estates being used with unpredictable levels of footfall and a need for differing working environments and even learning environments within the education sector so building a network of leaders who have played key roles in change transformation (both physical estate and cultural) is becoming more important to clients.
Is there a particular project that you have been involved in that you're proud of?
A project that I have enjoyed being part of began early in my MRG career, with a time-sensitive appointment for the All England Lawn Tennis Club. They approached us with a need for a senior appointment to their Estates Operations team. The reason for the time sensitivity was the impending Wimbledon championship, which is naturally their busiest time of the year, and this appointment would play a key role in ensuring the smooth and successful delivery of estates operations through this busy season. An opportunity like this, with a prestigious organisation that is deeply rooted in British heritage, always leads to some really interesting conversations and creates opportunities to meet great candidates and form new relationships with them.
