What is your role at MRG?
I am Senior Recruitment Manager at MRG Global, based in India. I look after mid-to-senior level hiring and client relationships across Real Estate, Infrastructure, Data Centre, Funds and Hospitality. At its core, it’s about understanding what a client truly needs, then finding the person who fits it.
What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
My career has never followed a straight line, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I started on the ground, having conversations with channel partners and distributors, understanding what drives people at every level. Over time, those conversations shifted from the bottom of the hierarchy to the boardroom, from closing sales targets to advising senior leaders on their most critical hiring and recruitment decisions.
Every chapter demanded that I start fresh, learn fast, and deliver. That ability to walk into any room, at any level, and perform, that’s what I am most proud of.
How did you get into recruitment, and why?
Interestingly enough, it started with a LinkedIn message from Page team. A few conversations later, I was in – no grand plan, just good timing. But looking back, the core was exactly the same: building trust with people.
I’d done that in core field sales at Havells, then in expert recruitment for strategy projects at Lynk Global. Recruitment just gave it a proper home. From Property and Construction at Michael Page to handling Real Estate, Infrastructure, Funds and Hospitality at MRG today – this was less of a plan, and more of a natural build.
What energises you about working in this sector?
Moments where I change someone’s trajectory. I once had a candidate who’d recovered from cancer, unemployed over a year, passed over again and again despite being genuinely well-qualified. I represented him for a role, was upfront with the client about his history, and made sure they saw the person, not the gap. They interviewed him and hired in one go.
That’s what energises me: the right conversation, at the right time, can change someone’s story.
What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
Candidates are far more intentional now – it’s not just pay, it is culture, growth, and most importantly – purpose. Additionally, Tech and AI have reshaped how we source people. But none of it replaces a real conversation for senior mandates, if anything, the human part matters more now, not less. 😊
What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I am secretly an introvert hiding behind an extrovert – some days I’m at a concert or out watching a movie, other days I would have vanished into my own little world, painting in peace, and won’t be heard from till there’s some emergency. Oh, and I am a lefty who can write with both hands. 😉
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Show up with intention, empathy and curiosity, even on days you don’t feel like it.
What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Relentless, Curious, Collaborative.
And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
I would play myself. It’s been a rewarding journey so far, but picture abhi baaki hai mere dost (the best is yet to come) :D. Besides, who better to play the role than the person who has been improvising half the script anyway? 😉
