Get to know… Riley Pugin

What do you do at MRG?

I am a Digital Graphic Designer for MRG; I handle all aspects of Design, whether it’s video, photo, graphics, web design, front-end development or visual effects.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?

Getting comfortable and confident in my Intermediate level of being a Multi-media Designer.

How did you get into Design, and why?

I got into Design at a young age; it all started out with a pencil and a piece of paper, and as soon as I discovered that there is a digital landscape of Design, it was hook, line and sinker, and I was drawn into all mediums of digital Design.

What energises you about working in this sector?

I would say it’s the people and clients we engage with. Every employee I’ve met so far has been very nice and kind, and being exposed to all the big brands MRG works with, the variety is massive.

What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in Design since you started?

It is simplicity; when I started as a Graphic Designer, at that stage, everyone was showing off their capabilities when it came to Design, and I found this falling into a trait of complexity. Designs were very complicated in the amount of layers and detail that go into them, whereas nowadays, Design has taken a step back and manifested itself into the idea of Less Is More.

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?

Is my drive and passion for family, I’ve been quite focused on the idea of starting a family one day, I am very close with my three brothers, and I want to be able to have an environment where all parts of my family can get together, as that used to be a very common activity during my childhood.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?

“You can’t compare suffering” To elaborate, you can’t compare it as everyone goes through their own journey in life, and no bump in the road can be judged against another; everyone deals with it in a different way, so we should support and uplift the individuals in our lives that are stuck.

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Chilled, Creative and Humorous.

And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?

Do It With Dan (Youtuber)
