What do you do at MRG?
I am the Business Director for Southeast Asia, specialising in connecting senior-level expatriate and local professionals with the right opportunities within the Construction and Engineering industry
What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
I started my own business in 2020, right as the world was heading into the uncertainty of the pandemic. It was a huge leap of faith during a challenging time, and while it was stressful, it ended up being one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I learned so much along the way, which is invaluable.
How did you get into recruitment and why?
I originally started my career in real estate, but I’ve always had a strong interest in recruitment. When my “then” manager left the company to move into the recruitment industry, they recommended that their new firm contact me. It was the opportunity I’d been waiting for, and I jumped at the chance. I haven’t looked back since. That decision sparked an incredibly rewarding career that took me to the other side of the world.
What energises you about working in this sector?
The mix of variety, pace, and the chance to make a real difference. I like being able to connect great people with the right opportunities; it’s a good feeling knowing you’ve helped someone take a big step in their career while also helping a business find the talent they need to grow.
No two days are the same, which keeps it exciting. I enjoy the challenge, the constant learning, and the relationships you build along the way. It’s a people-focused industry, and that’s what makes it so rewarding for me.
What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
Technology and social media have changed the game; there’s way more access to candidates, but that also means standing out and building real connections is more important than ever.
What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
When I was a kid, I once tried to train my cat to fetch, but I did not succeed.
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Follow your gut instinct.
What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Likeable, Genuine, Easy-going
And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
Matthew McConaughey
