One of the most exciting PIF projects is coming to London! On behalf of our client, MRG Global is undertaking a confidential search for a number of exceptional candidates to fill the position of Senior Design Manager. Our client will visit London to conduct in-person interviews, so this is your chance to get face to face with the hiring team from one of the projects everyone is talking about. 

Our client is an ambitious, PIF-backed project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Senior Design Manager will play a highly pivotal role in leading and managing the design process for various projects within this cutting-edge development.  

This role will encompass providing design leadership, design project management and support for the project development from project inception to delivery and handover, including the interface with related infrastructure assets. It requires an individual with a proven track record of delivering innovative design solutions, exceptional leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of the complexities involved in large-scale entertainment and leisure projects.  

Experience having worked with a Developer, Investor and/or client-side institution.

As the Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for:  

Design Leadership: Lead the design team in developing innovative and high-quality designs that align with the projects vision and objectives. Guiding and assisting of the selection of design consultant teams through initial outreach, RFPs, award and contract execution and contract administration. Assisting in development and implementation of design guidelines for the Development Company Projects. 

Project Management: Oversee the design process from conceptualization to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. Ensuring that the design development, change control and progress monitoring procedures are in place, functioning correctly and always maintained. 

Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of designers, architects, and engineers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Manage internal collaborative design reviews. 

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and other departments, to understand project requirements and objectives, and ensure design solutions meet expectations. 

External Coordination: Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and partners to coordinate design activities, review proposals, and ensure alignment with project goals. 

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges related to design activities and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively. 

Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and stakeholder expectations. 

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to incorporate innovative design solutions and drive continuous improvement within the design team. 

Budget and Resource Management: Manage design budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize costs while maintaining design quality and integrity. 

Communication: Facilitate effective communication within the design team and with stakeholders, providing regular updates, presentations, and reports on project progress and design decisions. 

Upholding the PIF’s commitment to sustainability, incorporating environmentally friendly design principles and practices into project designs wherever possible. 

The ideal candidate for the Senior Design manager role possesses the following qualifications and attributes: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Design, Urban Planning or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing design teams. 
  • Professional registration or accreditation with RIBA, Real Estate or Urban Design Institute 
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in architectural design and project management, with a focus on large-scale entertainment, leisure, or hospitality projects. 
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex design projects from concept to completion, on time and within budget. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. 
  • In-depth knowledge of design principles, building codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the entertainment and leisure industry. 
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Experience working in the Middle East region and familiarity with local regulatory requirements and construction practices preferred. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
