Job Title: Project Director – Data Centre Construction

Job Summary:
The Project Director for Data Centre Construction will lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale data centre projects from inception to completion. This role requires a deep understanding of the construction industry, particularly within the specialized field of data centre infrastructure. The Project Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project, including design, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, risk management, and stakeholder communication. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and experience in managing complex, high-value construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead the project team, including project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management strategies. Ensure all project activities align with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including clients, government authorities, contractors, and internal teams. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Budget and Cost Control: Oversee project budgets, cost estimates, and financial performance. Implement cost control measures and ensure projects are delivered within budget while maximizing profitability.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks, including technical, financial, and operational risks. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all construction activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Oversee quality control processes and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable data centre facilities.
- Resource Management: Allocate and manage resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials. Ensure the project team has the necessary resources to meet project objectives.
- Schedule Management: Develop and manage detailed project schedules, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met. Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation and management of contracts with suppliers, contractors, and service providers. Ensure all contractual obligations are met and manage any disputes that may arise.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Promote a strong HSE culture within the project team. Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED AP, etc.) is a plus.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in construction project management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role overseeing data centre or mission-critical facility projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex construction projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems, cooling systems, power distribution, and IT infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6) and other relevant tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and implement effective solutions.
