The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) is a college of the University of London and the only Higher Education institution in the UK specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.
Based in the heart of Central London the School has some impressive facilities, including the Brunei Gallery, opened in 1995, which provides a notable conference venue. The estate also includes the SOAS Library which is recognised as a collection of national importance. In 2016, Senate House North Block opened, creating a single unified campus for SOAS. The redevelopment of the North Block of the building extended SOAS’ Central London campus, creating spaces that facilitate both formal and informal teaching and learning.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Property Services, the Head of Housekeeping will have primary responsibility for managing the operational planning and delivery of the in-house cleaning services on campus. Core duties will also encompass ensuring operational effectiveness, budgetary compliance, service improvement, and resource efficiency within the campus cleaning service.
The successful candidate should possess an outstanding background in the cleaning services industry, with a proven track record in hands-on operational cleaning management. An operational mindset, combined with a strong understanding and experience in strategic leadership, is essential. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are a must, along with a demonstrated ability to manage diverse and high-performing cleaning teams.
