Job Summary:

The Design Manager for Factory Construction Projects will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design phase of factory construction projects, ensuring that all design work is executed efficiently, meets the project requirements, and complies with relevant codes and standards. The Design Manager will collaborate closely with the project management team, clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure that the design supports the overall project goals and is delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Management: Lead and manage the design process for factory construction projects, from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints.

  • Coordination and Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure the integration of all design elements, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil components.

  • Client Engagement: Liaise with clients to understand their needs, provide design solutions, and ensure that their requirements are met throughout the design process.

  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support to the design team, ensuring that all designs adhere to industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.

  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce design quality standards, conducting regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Cost Management: Work with the project management team to ensure that design solutions are cost-effective and contribute to the overall financial success of the project.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential design risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Documentation: Oversee the preparation and submission of all necessary design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring that all deliverables are accurate and timely.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.

  • Project Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and clients on the progress of the design phase, highlighting any issues or changes that may impact the project.

  • Sustainability: Promote and integrate sustainable design practices into all aspects of the project, ensuring that environmental impact is minimized.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification in project management or a related discipline is a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in design management within the construction industry, with a focus on factory or industrial projects.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM (Building Information Modeling). Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and design principles.

  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading design teams and managing multidisciplinary design processes.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and project teams.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing design challenges.

  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards relevant to factory construction projects.
