Commercial/Cost Director

Position Title: Cost Commercial Director – Giga Project (Design and Build Contracts)

Location: Saudi Arabia (Interviews in UK)

Role Intro:
This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead the cost and commercial management of prestigious giga project in Saudi Arabia, contributing to their successful delivery and long-term sustainability.


  • Oversee and manage the cost and commercial aspects of giga-scale projects in Saudi Arabia, specifically focusing on design and build contracts.
  • Develop and implement cost control strategies to ensure projects remain within budget constraints while maintaining quality standards.
  • Lead and supervise a team of cost estimators, quantity surveyors, and commercial managers to effectively manage project finances and contracts.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to evaluate project scope, risks, and opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontract agreements, and change orders with vendors and subcontractors to optimize project profitability.
  • Conduct regular cost reviews, variance analyses, and financial reporting to track project performance and provide insights for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, legal requirements, and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, and suppliers to promote collaboration and resolve commercial disputes effectively.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making and mitigate risks.


  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 
  • Certifications such as MRICS 
  • Proven experience (at least 15 years) in cost management, commercial leadership, and contract administration for large-scale construction projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of design and build contracts, procurement methods, and construction cost estimating techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with a track record of building successful business relationships.
  • Proficiency in project management software, cost estimation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
