Get to know… Shikha Tripathi

What do you do at MRG?

I am a Senior Recruitment Manager for the Indian market. I will be responsible for mid to senior-level recruitment within the Real Estate and Infrastructure domains. I will also focus on generating new business opportunities, creating recruiting strategies and building relationships with clients across the globe.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?

During my employment with a Fortune 500 company, I received an APAC-level felicitation at our global HQ for generating business within the Industrial real estate asset class.

How did you get into recruitment and why?

I got into recruitment organically, driven by my passion for connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. My background in client-facing and people-centric roles further fuelled my interest. That made me better understand people’s strengths and career aspirations, which aligned perfectly with recruitment.

What energises you about working in this sector?

The challenge and excitement of identifying the right talent motivated me to transition into recruitment, particularly in fast-paced, competitive industries. The dynamic nature of recruitment, where each day presents new challenges and opportunities, keeps me motivated and ensures that I am continuously learning and growing in my profession.

Ultimately, recruitment has become more than just a career for me; it’s a way to have a meaningful impact on businesses and people alike.

What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?

The impact of technology including social media, data, and now Generative AI. Also, there is increased flexibility offered around working environments.

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?

I am a trained classical dancer and completed my Arangetram in Bharatnatyam in record time, per Bhartiya Sangeet Samiti.

I was also part of a Bollywood dance troupe and choreographed commercial shows.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?

There are two, and both have impacted my life equally.

  1. “The most beautiful thing about life – you do not get a do-over. Optimise for experiences.”
  2. “The magic you’re looking for is in the work you are avoiding.”

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Energetic, Caring, and Confidant

And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?

Priyanka Chopra
